Year 6 Careers Program

We have an exciting opportunity for our year 6 pupils to gain an insight into the world of work with a careers program delivered by FYI (Follow Your Interest) on the 7th of July 2023.

The FYI program is designed to empower Year 6 pupils by providing them with valuable insights and guidance as they embark on their educational and career journeys. With a strong focus on individual interests and aspirations, we aim to lay a solid foundation for their future success.

SCIENCE FAIR!

Our pupils celebrated British Science Week between 10-19th March. This year’s theme was ‘Connections’.
“Nearly all innovations in science, technology, engineering and maths are built on connections between people; two (or more) heads are better than one, after all!”

Each year group carried out an investigation linked to a famous scientist and shared their findings with the rest of the school!


AFIFAH FUNDRAISER

JazakAllah to everyone who contributed to our food sale fundraiser! We managed to raise a total of £1275.04! All proceeds will go towards improving the provision we provide for our pupils inshallah!

WORLD BOOK DAY FUN!

Our lovely children and teachers dressed up for World Book Day! We all had such fun dressing up as our favourite characters and we all got involved in a range of reading activities!

SPONSORED READ

To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a
sponsored read between the 27 th February – 6 th March!
The project is being organised in conjunction with our Usborne Partner Ally Bennett and all the
money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money,
Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So, for
every £600 raised, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books!


MMPS VS AFIFAH SCHOOL

What an exciting match! We really enjoyed hosting Manchester Muslim Preparatory school! MMPS won 3-2, well done to them!
Our next match is on the 8th of March 2023 at KD Grammar School against MMPS!



MMPS VS AFIFAH – FOOTBALL MATCH

We are really excited to be hosting a football match between Afifah school and Manchester Muslim Preparatory School! The football match will take place on 15th February from 3-4:30pm!

Our football team consists of  8 players and 2 substitutes.
Well done Muhammed, Afia, Talha, Ibrahim.H., Ibrahim.R., Uthman, Zayd, Zarmina, Ghazali & Mariam for making it to our football team!

KD GRAMMAR PUPILS LED OUR FRIDAY PRAYER

Today (3rd February 2023), we had two student visitors from KD Grammar school along with the Imam (Muslim Leader) join us for our Friday prayer. It was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate bringing two schools together and also for our boys to view these senior pupils as their role models.


CHILDRENS’ MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

This year, children’s mental health week falls between 6-12 February 2023.

For children’s mental health week, we will be learning about the importance of mental health, looking at identifying and expressing emotions, exploring mindfulness and relaxation (such as deep breathing) and on Friday, pupils will are encouraged to wear a green item of clothing and generously donate £1 which will go towards the charity Place2Be.
Place2Be is a mental health charity which ensure children do not have to face mental health problems alone! They provide lots of support for educational institutes.


WORLD HIJAB DAY

World Hijab Day falls on the 1st of February, it is held in recognition of millions of Muslim women who choose to wear the Hijab and live a life of modesty.

To celebrate World Hijab Day, on Wednesday 1st February our girls can come into school wearing a blue hijab and abaya. Our boys can come into school wearing a blue hat!

We will start the day with a primary school assembly and Ms Seema will share this inspiring book named ‘The Proudest Blue’ by Ibtihaj Muhammad with our pupils!


NATIONAL STORYTELLING WEEK

National Storytelling Week will be taking place from 30th January – 5th February 2023!
Our pupils will be engaging in a live storytelling event with professional storyteller and author Wendy Shearer! Our pupils will also be creating storytelling scrapbooks!


ENGLISH WEEK

English week: 12th December – 16th December

During English week, pupils will be engaging in exciting activities.
The itinerary for English week can be found below! We look forward to seeing our pupils dressed up as a word or an idiom!


MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Macmillan support individuals suffering from cancer. On 30th September we held a Macmillan baking competition and sold our bakes! All proceeds will be going to Macmillan Cancer support and we hope this will benefit numerous families and individuals suffering from Cancer, inshaAllah.
